Ding-dong! Peephole? Step step step KICK THE FUCKING DOOR DOWN!

I had no real interest at first to see this film. "The dude from Snatch is suddenly an action star? What?" My mind was changed, however, once I saw the trailer - perfectly crafted to market a stylized kick-party movie, and it ended with the above sequence. This MUST be a good time. Sometimes you just wanna watch a badass be a badass.

That's what this movie is all about - Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a professional anal-retentive badass smuggler who also knows how to kick and punch really well. He's got a lot of rules and doesn't let people fuck him over on deals. He doesn't ask questions, he just does the job and forgets 'em. Things go wrong when his latest package turns out to be a woman (Shu Qi) in a dufflebag. When he's tempted to break his own rules out of the tarnished goodness of his heart, he winds up in a shitstorm of surly criminals what want him croaked. So he has to kick all their asses.

This is an absolutely ridiculous film, but it's also a really good time. Statham has a sort of "acrobatic Bruce Willis" quality going on, and that's a good thing. It helps make him an entertaining badass to root for. The fight sequences are imaginative and well-executed, and that's all you can really ask of a film like this. The rest leaves a little to be desired - clunky dialog and a plot hole or two detract a little - but damn if'n I didn't have a good-ass time watching this bad-ass movie.

I will look forward to "Transporter II: Transporterer."
