I went to see this movie for two reasons. It was free, and I wanted to check in and see if my old crush on Sandra Bullock was still active, and if it wasn't for the first reason, the second one wouldn't have been enough for me to get up off my duff and check it out.

I can't remember exactly when I fell in love with her. I think "Demolition Man" started it... but "Speed" certainly helped. Perhaps because Keanu was so awful that focusing on Sandra was absolutely necessary. I had to go see "While You Were Sleeping" by myself, cuz everyone thought it would suck. But I was in love with her. So I went. And it wasn't until about an hour into it that I took enough notice of the plot to realize it was pretty lame. Then I saw "The Net." That was pretty bad, too. In "A Time To Kill," she was pretty much superfluous. I haven't seen a movie of hers since.

It was weird for a moment to see her on the big screen again. I'd let myself forget. She's still got that natural charm of hers, that whatever-it-is that makes you think she might be kinda fun to know. It's too bad the dialog coming out of her mouth is rarely interesting or amusing. She can only cover stuff like that up for so long. I can see through a half-ass script a lot more easily now.

She's an iffy, 'one of the guys' FBI agent that has to go undercover in a beauty pageant. Haven't there been enough of these movies? Not that pageants aren't inane, but they are also the EASIEST target in the world for comedy, and thus, rarely funny when their peccadillos are pointed out. But she's purty. She's real purty. Gawrsh. Aw, shucks.

Sorry. Ahem. I also think it tends to suck when you try to inject any sort of action/suspense/dramatic tension into a fluffy comedy like this - what with the FBI drama and all in this flick. It never really works, but sometimes people have to put it in so they have some sort of attempt at a plot. Luckily, they don't try and put too much into this one. Just woulda made it worse.

Anyone WITHOUT a ridiculous crush on 'Sandy' will probably not enjoy this movie at all. Wasn't that funny, wasn't that interesting. I think the 'dressed-down girl finally dresses up' theme has been done for a while now.

But she's purty. I might have to go rent "Fire on the Amazon." I hear she's naked in that.
